Right Prism Learning

Introduction to learning right prism:

The prisms in which the lateral connecting faces are at right angle to the base plane. Here the lateral connecting faces are rectangle not only the parallelogram.  The base plane is associated one directly above other. If the lateral connecting faces and base plane are rectangle in shape then it is called as cuboids. Based on the shape of the base, it is classified as different types.

Learning Volume and Lateral Area of Right Prism:

Learning Volume of Right Prism

Volume of the prism is the capacity of right prism and it is  given by product of the base area and height of the prism

Volume of the right prism= (B) (h) cubic units:

Learning Lateral area of right prism

Cross area of the right prism includes the area of all the lateral connecting faces.

Cross area of the right prism = (perimeter of the base *height of prism) square units

= (p) (h) square units

Example 1: Find the lateral area of the right square prism where side of the square is 8m and the height of the prism is 12m.

Solution:

Square side is 8m

Height= 12m

Lateral area of the right prism = (perimeter of the base *height of prism) square units

Perimeter of the base= 4* sides

=4*8                                                                                                                                                                        = 32m

Lateral area of the right prism =32x12 square unit

= 384   m^2

Having problem with Find the Surface Area of a Prism keep reading my upcoming posts, i will try to help you.

Learning Total area of right prism

Total area of right prism.

Total area of the right prism is the sum of the area of the connecting faces and the area of the base plane

Total area of  right prism=lateral area +2(base plane area) sq. units

= (p h) +2B   square units

Example 2: Find the total area of the right square prism where side of the square is 8m and the height of the prism is 12m.

Solution:

Square side is 8m

Height= 12m

Total area of  right square prism=lateral area +2(area of base plane) sq. units

= (p) (h) +2B m^2

Lateral area of the right square prism is 384 m^2

Base area of square is 8*8= 64 m^2

Total area of  right square prism =lateral area +2(area of base plane) square units

= 384 m^2 +2(64) m^2

= 384+128

=512

Total area of the right square prism = 512 m^2
