Math LCM

Introduction to LCM online:
In arithmetic and number theory, the least common multiple or lowest common multiple (LCM) or smallest common multiple of two integers a and b is the smallest positive integer that is a multiple of both of a and of b. Since it is a multiple, it can be divided by a and b without a remainder. If either a or b is 0, so that there is no such positive integer, then LCM (a, b) is defined to be zero.

How to Find LCM in online:

Method to find LCM in online:

Write the multiples of the given two numbers or given set of numbers.

Select the common multiples of the given numbers

Choose the least value from common multiples, which is called as LCM of given numbers.

Examples

1. Find the LCM (9, 12)

Solution:

Multiples of  9= 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81,90,99,108….

Multiples of 12=12,24,36,48,60,72,84,96,108,120….

Common multiples of 9, 12 are 36, 72,108…

Least value of the above multiples is 36.

So the LCM (9, 12) is 36.

2. Find the LCM (4, 6, 3)

Solution:

Multiples of  4= 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36,40….

Multiples of  6=6,12,18,24,30,36,42,48,54,60….

Multiples of  2=2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20….

Common multiples of 4, 6, 2 are the 12, 24…

Least value of the above multiples is 12.

So the LCM (4, 6, 3) is 12

3. Find the LCM of (2.5, 5, 7.5)

Solution:

Multiples of  2.5=2.5,5,7.5,10,12.5,15,17.5,20,22.5..

Multiples of 5=5, 10,15,20,25,30,35,40

Multiples of 7.5=7.5, 15, 22.5….

Common multiples of 2.5, 5, and 7.5 are 15, 30…

Least value of the above multiples is 15

So the LCM (2.5,5,7.5) is 15

I have recently faced lot of problem while learning Converting a Decimal to a Fraction, But thank to online resources of math which helped me to learn myself easily on net.
