Want to Learn Algebra

Introduction to “want to learn algebra”:

Algebra is a branch of mathematics. Algebra plays vital role in our day by day life. To learn algebra, we want to learn the following four basic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and also associated with the following important terms such as variables, constant, coefficients, exponents, terms and expressions. Also to learn algebra, we want to use symbols and alphabets for the unknown values to create a statement. Hence, algebra is the extension of Arithmetic. I like to share this long division polynomials with you all through my article.

Want to Learn Algebra Example Problems :

Ex 1:Solve the equation 6x + 25= 55 for x

Solution 6x + 25= 55

Add -25 on both sides.

6x + 25 – 25 = 55 - 25

6x = 30

Divide both sided by 6

`(6x) / 6 = 30 / 6`

x = 5

Ex 2: Solve the equation 2x^2 - 2x - 4 = 0 by using quadratic formula.

Solution:Here a = 2, b = -2 and c = -4

Discriminate: b2-4ac = 22-4*2*-4 = 36

Discriminate (36) is greater than zero.

x =`(-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)`

x =`(-(-2)+-sqrt(36))/(2*2)`

x = `(2+6)/(2*2)`    and  x =  `(2-6)/(2*2)`

x = `(8) / 4 ` = 2    and  x = `(-4) / 4 ` = -1

x^1 = 2  and

x^2 = -1  Ans

Ex 3:Solve the equation 2x^2 - 2x - 4 = 0 by using factorizing method.

Solution:2x^2 - 2x - 4 = 0

2x^2 + 2x – 4x - 4 = 0

(2x^2 + 2x) – (4x + 4) = 0

2x(x + 1) – 4(x + 1) = 0

(x + 1) (2x - 4) = 0

x + 1 = 0 and 2x - 4 = 0

x + 1 – 1 = 0 – 1  and 2x - 4 + 4 = 0 + 4

x + 1 – 1 = 0 – 1  and `(2x)/2 = 4/2`

x = -1  and x = 2

Pro 1:Solve the equation 5x + 7 = 32 for x.

Ans: 5

Pro 2:Solve the equation 7x + (35 ÷ 7) = 54 for x.

Ans: x = 7

Pro 3:Solve the equation for x^2 + 7 = 71 for x.

Ans: x = 8

Pro 4: Solve the equation 4x^2 + 9x + 2 = 0 by using quadratic formula.

Ans: x^1 = -0.25 and x^2 = -2

Pro 4: Solve the equation 4x^2 + 9x + 2 = 0 by using factorizing method.

Ans: x^1 = -0.25 and x^2 = -2
